Hello Fellow Yakkers,

Steve and I set off about 6.45 on a warm beautiful calm morning. Getting out was a breeze and the paddle out uneventful arriving at Jew Shoal at about 7.20. Steve was the first to bag a nice size snapper at about 8.00 and he was most disappointed in losing a big one (they are always big aren't they) shortly after. Mal joined us at about 8.30 and we fished without any success until I caught a smallish sweetlip but a keeper. Mal proceeded to twist his line into an unholy mess and after helping him to get all the line out he proceeded to paddle away hoping that the line would unwind as it was dragged behind. He eventually found himself by the national park and decided to paddle back to shore admiring the surfers and coastline and enjoying the picture perfect day.

We had millpond conditions for a couple of hours with Steve continually commenting on how good a day this was. By the way Steve has now joined us as a retiree and will be a regular on the waters from now on. Welcome to the club Steve.

Steve and I persisted and had enough excitement in getting big ones that got away to keep us keeping on. Finally at 12.30 when we were thinking of heading home I caught 2 nice snappers in two casts. That kept us going to 1.15 when we decided to call it a day. By this time a nice sea breeze had begun to help push us home. On our way back I heard Steve shout and looked as he was grappling with his rod. He had hooked something that made his rod zing but as he grabbed the rod he felt a sudden surge of pull and it was gone lure and all. AAH another big one got away.
We breezed into shore safely upright and dry.

The attached pictures show Steve with his snapper and the second is the day's haul. I have worked out how to incorporate the pictures into this page but not how to reduce the size beforehand to make it manageable and easy to email ( therefore the attachments). Can anyone give me the info on how to do this.

By the way Thursday is looking reasonable for another outing. I will keep you posted.

Cheers

Jaro
